War in the Middle East has brought questions of energy security, diversification and resilience back to the forefront once again. As global energy flows have been severely disrupted, hydrogen advocates in Europe, northeast Asia and elsewhere have highlighted the possibility for domestic energy production.

The renewed focus on hydrogen’s ability to boost resilience comes at a time when the sector still struggles to get firmly off the ground even though investments are growing steadily.
Meanwhile, transposition of renewable hydrogen targets from the EU’s revised renewable energy directive (RED III) into national laws is advancing, sending clearer demand signals. The progress is prompting transport fuel suppliers to take a position on renewable hydrogen and derivatives.

Elsewhere, India and China are making progress on their ambitions. Renewable ammonia from these countries is increasingly seen as cost competitive with “blue” supply from gas-rich countries, especially for other Asian countries like South Korea and Japan.

In this webinar, Argus reviews key developments from the first half of 2026 and looks ahead to what can be expected later this year and into the medium-term.

Topics include:

  • More clarity RED III transpositions in Europe: what does it mean for demand?
  • EU policy plans: revising the RFNBO definition and key targets?
  • Progress, projects and prospects in Asia: what to expect?
  • Did blue NH3 miss the boat as NE Asia pivots to higher CI electrolytic ammonia?
  • e-Methanol: Argus introduces coverage.
  • e-SAF: Europe at the centre as the market focuses on offtake.
