Webinar: Post-MEPC 83: What’s Next for Methanol in Maritime Decarbonization?

Date: Thursday, May 1st 2025

Time: 9:00 AM BST / 3:00 PM BST

The International Maritime Organization’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 83) meeting brought forward new decisions that will shape the future of decarbonization in shipping.

From updated greenhouse gas reduction targets to discussions on fuel standards and lifecycle emissions, the outcomes of MEPC 83 will impact how the industry navigates the energy transition.

In this webinar, hosted by Argus in collaboration with the Methanol Institute, a panel of experts will break down the key takeaways from MEPC 83 and discuss how these decisions affect fuel suppliers, shipowners, and regulators.

Join the webinar to gain insights on:

  • The latest IMO decisions on GHG reduction and what they mean for shipping timelines.
  • Lifecycle emissions (LCA) and fuel standards – where is the regulation heading?
  • How alternative fuels like methanol are positioned in the new IMO landscape.
  • What shipowners and fuel producers should consider as they plan for compliance.
