Argus Webinar: RFNBO Offtakes - Willingness to pay and market dynamics

When: Thursday 1st August at 1pm BST

Duration: 1 hour

Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBOs), including hydrogen and hydrogen-based fuels, have a pivotal role to play in the global energy transition. As governments and regulatory bodies set ambitious emission reduction targets, the EU —through the third revision of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and FuelEU Maritime —leads the charge.

However, despite a large pipeline, very few projects have taken final investment decision (FID), hindered mostly by the lack of strong, long-term offtake commitments.  What do investors need to believe in for RFNBOs to truly take off?

Join Argus’ experts as they step into the shoes of RFNBO offtakers to explore the potentials and challenges of RFNBO uptake:

  • Policy Landscape: Uncover effective policies that drive RFNBO adoption.
  • Competitive Sectors: Identify sectors where RFNBOs can outperform traditional fuels.
  • Willingness-to-Pay (WTP): When will RFNBO achieve cost parity (breakeven) with existing technologies and fossil fuels?
  • Other Considerations: Understand the market fundamentals and critical factors influencing the fuel switch to RFNBO within each sector of focus.
