Used cooking oil (UCO) is a renewable feedstock used to produce biofuels like biodiesel, renewable diesel, and sustainable aviation fuel. Since 2021, renewable diesel capacity in the US has tripled to almost 5bn USG/yr. Additionally sustainable aviation fuel production in the US continues to increase boosting demand for feedstocks like UCO.
As companies look to manage their price risk in this sector we have seen US Gulf Coast Used Cooking Oil futures contracts launched on CME Exchange in early December.
