Webinar: Global Hydrogen Mid-year Outlook 2025

Available to watch on-demand

The first half of 2025 brought about significant political turmoil, especially in the US, leaving a mark on a clean hydrogen sector that is still struggling to get off the ground.

Final investment decisions have remained rare, even in Europe where dozens of projects have secured large public funding. More projects have been cancelled, while companies and countries have trimmed clean hydrogen targets.

But companies have to face up to key policies — such as the EU’s CBAM and mandates for consumption of renewable hydrogen and derivatives — coming ever closer to taking effect and need to consider the implications for their businesses.

Against this backdrop, Argus will be reviewing key developments in the first half of 2025 and provide an outlook on what is to come over the remainder of the year.

Topics include:

  • A mixed bag for “blue”: FIDs and project pauses as developers keep their eyes on northeast Asia’s subsidy schemes.
  • Deadline day on 21 May: EU member state implementation of RED III targets for use of renewable hydrogen and derivatives in industry and transport — who has done it and how?
  • E-fuels update: e-SAF mandates under ReFuelEU aviation are drawing nearer — how is the project pipeline shaping up and why has France taken the lead?
  • Moving CCS-enabled projects forward at scale: how to unlock.
  • Green hydrogen bends to commodity market econometric norms: Where does it go from there?
